From the innocent 50s to the cynical 70s and beyond, he has written and performed some of the world's best loved pop songs including ' Oh, Carol', ' Breaking Up Is Hard To Do', ' Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen', ' Solitaire, ' Calendar Girl' ' Amarillo', ' Laughter in the Rain' and many more. Sedaka started songwriting at Broadway's legendary Brill Building, penning his first hit for his girlfriend Carole King. He soon became a teenage idol to rival Elvis but in 1964 his career collapsed as America embraced the Beatles and other bands of the ' British Invasion'. He found salvation by moving to Britain, where he signed to Elton John's Rocket Records label, and remarkably returned to the top of the US charts in 1974 with ' Laughter In The Rain' - remaining a national treasure ever since. Laughter in The Rain - a remarkable story of triumph against the odds. THE NEIL SEDAKA STORY THE SINGER THE SONGWRITER THE SURVIVOR THE LEGEND! As Arthur himself says, " Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could just turn the telly on after a hard day ... and there I was, smiling back at you, in my own programme". Celebrating 10 successful years One Night of Queen continues to rock sell out audiences worldwide, from the prestigious BBC Proms in the Park, London to extensive tours of the USA. David Johnson presents Stewart Lee If You Prefer A Milder Comedian, Please Ask For One Writer, director and comedian, Stewart Lee returns to the live circuit with a new show that begins in a High Street coffee chain and ends in a pear cider which is 100% disappointment. Expect some punchy stuff near the top; inexplicable hostility towards relatively innocuous figures; silences and repetition; sudden and/ or gradual shifts in tone, velocity and volume ... This tour follows his acclaimed BBC TV series Steward Lee's Comedy Vehicle. |
